Retro Table Fans Discussed In Very Basic Terms
Table fans are appliances that are run by electricity and are sized just enough to be able to bring coolness in the air while on top of the table or desk. These fans work the same way as ceiling fans and desk fans – there are series of blades or propellers that are spun by a motor that usually has been preset with three speeds. When the blades spin, they agitate the air in front of them and the air is pushed forward creating a cooling effect to the objects directly in front of it. For a wider reach, oscillating table fans were invented and it provided cool air to a more extensive area. Table fans, aside from being small, table fans are also light and that is the reason why it is sometimes called the portable fan, as You Can easily carry it anywhere you want to place it.
Table fans come in various designs and colors and whatever your home or office setup is, there will always be a table fan that will match your home structure and mood. History showed that the fan was a common fixture in the rooms of royalties, in fact, one of the first recorded use of the fan was in the court of Cleopatra in ancient Egypt. The fans used to keep the rooms of the Egyptian queen cool is made of feathers and gold and where powered by two slaves each pulling ropes that were connected to the end of the fans. Retro table fans are becoming more and more popular nowadays. In fact, there are retro table fans which were designed as a representation of an old movie or a pop era. For example, I have seen old-fashioned retro table fans that were designed for Heavy Metal song lovers with stainless steel or aluminum blades and rounded metal cages that serve as the face of the fan and a shield to the fan blades. The reason why it has been tagged as the retro table fan is because the design that it carries is very similar to the 1930s original brass table fans as discussed here.
In the age when everything is being made small and lightweight and materials are being changed from metal to lightweight plastic, it is sometimes refreshing to have something of the past in the house or in the office especially if you are a collector of classic items. Today, table fans have become as modern as computers. There are table fans that can be operated even if you are meters away from it via the power of a remote control. Others can be run using a USB port which means its electrical consumption is really low.
